Experience-based Interior Design [EID] and Design Consulting

Experiential interior design (EID) is the practice of employing experiential values in interior design. EID is a new design approach to interior architecture based on modern environmental psychology emphasizing human experiential needs. The notion of EID is initiated from the subjective impact of a designed environment on experience formation. This environmental experience is defined as the result of human and environment interactions providing intellectual or emotional acquisition. The main application of EID is to create engaging environmental experiences.

Environmental Branding and Sensory Branding

In architecture and interior design, branded environments extend the experience of an organization's brand, or distinguishing characteristics as expressed in names, symbols and designs, to the design of interior or exterior physical settings. It uses space as a physical embodiment of the brand to create a ‘brand space.’ This is achieved through architecture, interiors, lighting, graphics, landscape in spaces such as retail stores, showrooms, trade-fair booths and office environments.

Evidence-based Art Placement

Evidence-based design (EBD) relies on credible, quantitative and qualitative data to inform design decisions of physical spaces that measurably affect positive outcomes. Evidence-Based Design as it relates to art selection is the use of published research in selecting and placing artwork in healthcare settings. Read more about Evidence-based art by GK Rowe.

Biophilic Design

The biophilia hypothesis (also called BET) suggests that humans possess an innate tendency to seek connections with nature and other forms of life. In architecture, biophilic design is a sustainable design strategy that incorporates reconnecting people with the natural environment. It may be seen as a necessary complement to green architecture, which decreases the environmental impact of the built world but does not address human re-connection with the natural world. Because of our technological advancements and more time spent inside buildings and cars, it is argued that the lack of biophilic activities and time spent in nature may be strengthening the disconnect of humans from nature.
